Residents Cut Ribbon on $56 Million Expansion of Trillium Woods Senior Living Community During Move-In Day

Trillium Woods senior living community celebrated the opening of its $56 million expansion, nearly doubling its footprint. Dozens of residents took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new building as new residents began moving in on Wednesday, October 1st at 8:30 a.m.

The new construction on the 46-acre campus at 5855 Cheshire Parkway in Plymouth employed an average of 110 people on-site each day, with just under 40 local companies contributing since work began in April 2024. The 160,321-square-foot, five-story building includes 18 assisted living units, 52 independent living units, and 16 memory care units.

“The VIPs at this grand opening truly were our residents, so they stood by my side as we officially cut the ribbon during this 10th anniversary year of Trillium Woods,” said Joe Amend-Marshall, Executive Director at Trillium Woods, which is owned by Life Care Services (LCS).

Only a few units remain available in the new building. Amend-Marshall attributed the high demand to an influx of Baby Boomers, as well as construction levels and annual rent growth being at their lowest since the early 2000s in the Minneapolis market. According to NIC MAP, the world’s leading senior housing analytics provider for operators, developers, and healthcare:

  • Hennepin County, where Trillium Woods is located, has the highest concentration of seniors aged 75+ in the Minneapolis area, with 89,449 residents in that age group as of this year.

  • For Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, the Minneapolis metropolitan area maintains higher occupancy and supply than both the state and U.S. averages.

  • Supply growth in Memory Care in the Minneapolis metro over the past five years has risen 16%, compared to 12% across Minnesota and 4% nationwide.

The new building showcases more open-concept floor plans and updated finishes. The addition of assisted living residences introduced a new level of care at Trillium Woods, allowing residents to maintain independence while receiving personalized daily support. A one-time entrance fee remains 80% refundable to residents or their estates.

Residents also pay a monthly all-inclusive fee covering meals, utilities, storage, parking, and more.

“Trillium Woods is unique in the region because it offers LifeCare—a full continuum of care that allows residents to live independently with minimal cost increases as their care needs change. This includes nursing services, ensuring residents may never have to leave their home here,” said Linda Stanton, Director of Marketing and Sales at Trillium Woods.
