Purpose and Generosity Thrive at Trillium Woods

At Trillium Woods, giving back isn’t something that happens once a year. Generosity is woven into everyday life at Plymouth, MN. premier senior living community as residents and team members alike embrace opportunities to support one another, strengthen the wider community, and live out the values of purpose, compassion, and connection.

Altruism doesn’t just help others — it meaningfully enhances our own well-being. At Trillium Woods, giving back is an important component of the Vocational, Emotional, Social, and Spiritual Wellness aspects of the community’s holistic 8 Dimensions of Wellness program. Residents find meaning and purpose as they use their skills and passions in ways that matter, whether volunteering, supporting a cause, or mentoring others. Each contribution is both an outward gift and an inward source of vitality.

Supporting Important Causes

Residents and team members work together to raise thousands of dollars for the Alzheimer’s Association through a series of fundraisers throughout the year, including car washes, silent auctions, bake sales, and even a Walk to End Alzheimer’s on its 46-acre campus.

This year, residents and associates also put purpose into motion during National Institute for Fitness and Sport’s “Pump It Up for Parkinson’s,” a nine-hour fitness marathon to raise awareness run by Trillium Woods’ fitness team. Participants rotated through 15-minute NuStep sessions, working toward a shared goal of 120,000 steps to honor those living with Parkinson’s. The effort aligned with World Parkinson’s Day and highlighted the importance of movement in managing symptoms.

Environmental Action Through the Green Team

Some of the most passionate giving at Trillium Woods comes from the Green Team — a resident-led group dedicated to environmental stewardship. Formed after a series of presentations from Elder Climate Action, the Green Team meets monthly, transforming learning into measurable action.

Their initiatives are both creative and impactful. They’ve collected more than 100 donated holiday plants for composting or recycling and worked with leadership to reduce kitchen waste and single-use items. They monitor all 19 street drains on campus to keep pollution out of local waterways and partner with Ridwell to recycle hard-to-dispose-of materials.

They’ve also brought environmental education to the community, hosting speakers and collaborating with students from Wayzata High School’s Earth Rise climate committee. Projects range from repurposing calendars and greeting cards for charitable groups to collecting ink cartridges and oral care products for recycling.

Caring for Associates and Their Families

One of the most heartfelt traditions at Trillium Woods is the way residents support those who work in the community each day. A resident-run committee raises funds for an annual employee scholarship program that benefits both associates and their children. Residents also participate in a separate, resident-organized appreciation effort each year.

Meanwhile, LCS, the organization that owns Trillium Woods, supports team members through educational reimbursement programs and access to hardship resources. In moments of personal crisis, these programs have made a profound difference for employees, as the company offers caring for those who care for residents.

Everyday Opportunities to Give Back

Beyond these large-scale efforts, residents and team members find countless meaningful ways to contribute both publicly and privately. Many volunteer through local organizations, church groups, and campus initiatives. Others participate in campus donation drives, craft groups that donate handmade items, and outreach efforts led by the wellness and programming teams.

Life at Trillium Woods is full of opportunities to stay engaged, stay active, and give back in ways big and small. Residents are involved in clubs, learning programs, art groups and projects, fundraisers, and intergenerational collaborations — all part of a vibrant lifestyle where everyone has something valuable to contribute.
